InVEST 1.0 Beta Registration Form

InVEST 1.0 Beta is a free tool distributed under the modified BSD license (text below). Anyone may use the tool, free of charge, with acceptance of the following:

  • This tool is a beta version and is still undergoing development.
  • InVEST currently runs in ArcGIS 9.2. You will need ArcGIS ArcInfo license with spatial analyst to be able to use the tool.
  • The Natural Capital Project will provide minimal technical support for the tool at this time. All technical support for the tool will be provided through this website (http://invest.ecoinformatics.org). You can post questions or comments on this site at any time. It is the goal of the technical support staff to respond to queries once every two weeks. All users can see others' comments and questions, so your issues may be addressed by others in the user community on a shorter time frame. Our intention is to foster a community of users that can inform each other and continually improve the tool.
  • New ecosystem service modules and updates to the existing code and the user’s guide will also be posted on this website as they become available.

Before you use InVEST, we ask that you answer the following questions so that we can continue to improve the software and track its usage. Upon submission of the registration form below, a new user request will be sent to our accounts manager. You will receive an account activation email once your account has been created.

Your preferred user name, usually something like 'jsmith'. No spaces or special characters. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive, make sure the caps lock key is not enabled. This will be the name used to log into http://invest.ecoinformatics.org/.

Briefly describe your project objectives and likely outcomes here. If you will apply InVEST broadly to many projects, please provide an overview of the different project types and expected outcomes.
What is the project timeframe (in months or years)? If you will use InVEST for many projects, provide the average timeframe.
Do you expect to apply InVEST in collaboration with others? If so, identify which kinds of organizations will be involved. If other, please define below.
We are considering creating a database to compile, and provide freely, data relevant to ecosystem service analyses. Would you be willing to share and freely distribute the source data you develop for InVEST in the future?


If you are not interested in making data freely available to others, are there certain conditions under which you would consider sharing your data? Please describe.
